Mashpee Real Estate Cape Cod
While Mashpee is fortunate to have five miles of beaches along the Nantucket and Vineyard Sounds, it also home to four of the largest freshwater ponds on Cape Cod and is an excellent location for hunting, boating and fishing. Mashpee has a long history of being home to the Wampanoag Indian people. The name of the Town originates from these native people and means, “land near the great cove” in reference to Wakeby Lake. Located nearby Wakeby Lake on Main Street is the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Museum and eighty-five percent of Wampanoag Indians live with 20 miles of here. Modern development has lead to the creation of affluent communities within Mashpee such as New Seabury and Mashpee Commons, a community shopping center noted for its traditional New England architecture. Mashpee is also now home to three world-class championship golf courses.
